The Original Idea

It may not come as a surprise, but the idea for Pink Room Theology didn't start as this blog. The original idea started one late night around 2am, at that time I was given the name Pink Room Theology by the Holy Spirit and I know this because I didn't come up with the name, it just kind of downloaded. One minute I was thinking about the color pink stereotypically being associated with women here in the States and considering different words that may pair well with pink and suit a women's bible study, and the next thing I knew Pink Room Theology downloaded to my mind. That was the beginning of PRT

Now, I'll preface the rest of the blog and whatever other ideas this turns into with the following: I haven't written extensively since college, about 4 years ago, and because of that my grammar is not the best and I look forward to getting better. So please give me grace.

That being said, I mentioned thinking of names for a women's bible study before being given PRT and that is the seed that sparked the idea of using the word pink in this name. The thought of creating this Bible study came to me after noticing a pretty huge gap in spiritual discipleship among some of my friends and acquaintances who are Christian and also noticing a bit of a gap for myself regarding accountability in studying my Bible. This idea was also borne out of a challenging year for myself and my family, I needed more spiritual accountability in the mundane things like praying, reading, worshiping, and studying scripture. My thoughts were that a Bible study may provide a solution via a group of women who loved God and who would be expecting me to at least meet around once per week to talk about God and dive into relevant topics they wanted to learn about in scripture because of what they'd been going through in their lives.

Fast forward to today, that Bible study isn't exactly a Bible study although we do talk about scripture, PRT has now become a blog and I also have other PRT plans in the works. Speaking of today, why today? Today is my dad's birthday and he passed away in August of this year. Before he passed I told him about several of my ideas for PRT and he encouraged me every step of the way. Finally writing these ideas down makes this more real for me and holds me accountable to the plans I shared with my father. This is a sort of homage to him and how I wish he could have seen one of my dreams come to fruition.

Pink Room Theology is a way for me to showcase a defense of His feminity- the femininity that God designed for the women that He created, by writing out my findings in scripture regarding women and openly working through my thought processes. It is also a way for me to grow into the woman He sees me as in His Kingdom; the woman my earthly father encouraged me to become. I'll be learning, asking questions, discerning, seeking wisdom, knowledge, and understanding, and growing closer to God along with whoever else decides to read what I write. I'll also create a more in-depth post regarding the vision I think God has given me for PRT as a whole, whatever it progresses into.

Lastly, I'd like to end each post with a prayer of sorts because I always appreciate it when strangers pray for me lol:

Dear God our Father in heaven, we thank you for the ideas that you've implanted in your sons and daughters and come to you with open arms and humility no matter how challenging or easy life may currently be. We thank you for the opportunity to fellowship with you through your Son and by the Holy Spirit and we welcome your will into our lives. Come clean house, Father, uproot the things that are not of you and continue to plant and cultivate within us and our lives and loved ones those things that are of Your Spirit. Lord, bless this and guide me by your Spirit as I share my writings and learnings and give wisdom, knowledge, and discernment to those who read along. I pray that anything you (the audience) read here will be edifying and also that you may prosper in all things and be in health just as your soul prospers. We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
May the peace of God be with you.
